Remember Hot Wheels, the badder more sexy cousin of Matchbox Cars? Well they're not only still around, their latest range of boy toys is meaner and badder than ever. Hummers, pickups, sports cars and big gas guzzlers feature heavy.
This got me thinking. Is this really the best way that can influence our children to be aware of the environmental impact of the motor car? Hot Wheels are simply perpetuating a macho gas-guzzling culture.
Maybe it's niaive to think that they could make their forture selling models of the Toyota Prius, or other hybrid or fuel cell cars, but it's a shame that all of Mattel's marketing genius is contributing to the problem instead of helping.
