On the day of England's game against Trinidad and Tobago, Red Planet is launching its own World Cup Song!
We're so tired of the commercialism of the World Cup, and especially the cynical cashing in by everyone and their Grannie and releasing songs - Stan Boardman at number 5 in the charts for heavens sake. The man continues to contribute to racial intollerance every time he sets foot on the stage. The World Cup, we are discovering, is about friendship, and breaking down borders. We're having an amazing time out here meeting people from every corner of the globe, and all are united by the desire to have a good time, enjoy the cameraderie, and watch the Beautiful Game.
So, here is our song. And we offer it for free to the people of England. Radio One won't play it because it has England in the title. We say stuff them. It IS possible to be patriotic and proud of your country without being a racist or offending anyone. Just ask the Ghanian whose national anthem I was singing with the other night, or the Koreans who were teaching me Korean because they spotted me in a South Korea t-shirt. And remember, we're Scottish, but we're happy to sing along with our English neighbours and celebrate with them whether winning or losing.
The song is free. Download it, copy it, send it to your friends, play it on the radio, do as you wish, with our blessing. Come on England!

ps The song is by our friends lukon5. Email them with your comments!

Glad you liked the song, and thanks for those facts which will come in handy for the next Scotland v England "discussion" I have with our English "friends".

"And remember, we're Scottish, but we're happy to sing along with our English neighbours and celebrate with them whether winning or losing."
I'm sure Scotland A would have appreciated those sentiments as they beat the England Saxons in the Churchill Cup a couple of weeks ago.
And let's not forget Scotland (the only qualifying team from Britain) were the only unbeaten team in the 1974 World Cup in West Germany too! (Incidently it was also Australia's first World Cup - 2006 is their second).
That said, not a bad song (apart from all the "Come on England" stuff) but give me Flower of Scotland any day.
